Ōpunakē Beach Holiday Park

Stunning West Coast Location

Ōpunakē, a small town on the coast of Taranaki, New Zealand features stunning views of the coastline and the iconic mountain. Ōpunakē Beach Holiday Park is right by the beach in a sheltered sandy bay surrounded in the summer by crimson Pohutukawa trees – it’s been a popular summer camping spot for families, couples and groups for over 50 years!

Accommodation Options

We have a range of affordable accommodation including campsites, campervan or RV parks, classic-retro caravans, standard cabins & self-contained (motel) units.

Ōpunakē Beach Holiday Park offers modern communal amenities and wheelchair access. 

The Holiday Park Shop is open from October to April and sells delicious ice creams, sweets, cold drinks and hot food - fancy fish n chips at the beach?!

Enjoy the great kiwi outdoors in a beach environment where children can play on the beach and at the adjacent playground, complete with a toddler’s paddling pool (seasonal).

Office Hours

From Labour Weekend until Easter the Park Office is open from 8.30am until 8pm.
Other times of the year it is open from 8.30am until 6.30pm.

OPUNAKE BEACH

An array of activities for the whole family

Ōpunakē is known as “the home of the big wave” and features an artificial surf reef. The famous Surf Highway 45 runs straight through this quirky coastal town where there are great surfing and fishing opportunities all year round! Ōpunakē is a fantastic base to participate in one of the many colourful local events such as the Beach Carnival, Garden Festival, Yarn Bomb and AmeriCarna and why not give Claybird Shooting a go – good fun for all the family!

The Great Ōpunakē Walkway is on our doorstep covering coastal and lake walking.  Various shops, cafes, a local movie theatre and swimming pool are all within walking distance from the holiday park and Ōpunakē's 18-hole golf course is just minutes away. Murals throughout the town celebrate local history and heritage walks will take you past some of the area’s most significant sites and scenery.
